| Why does it feel like the government/police have so much control over us nowadays? | |

It feels like nowadays, they're telling us how to live our lives socially, personally, professionally, and sexually too. And if we don't do things the way they want us to, they'll arrest us and prosecute us legally. Why can't they just stop sticking their nose into our lives all the time? We have our own judgment and we can use that instead. I can't stand the government/police being so controlling of us all the time. They can even violate our privacies too. |

Law is necesarry to regulate human lifestyle. For extremists, its annoying barrier. For others, its key to safe lifestyle |

Pretty sure that's just the Internet. "If you do things they don't want you to do, they'll arrest you" Pretty sure this has always been the case. |

Part of the security and utility society provides us really. I see restrictions as a good compromise for having fresh water, easy access to food, jobs, benefits, healthcare, emergency services etc etc I don't get why people think these things are somehow the right of all people by default, they cost a lot of money and time to maintain and create. Most people sure as hell couldn't set up an irrigation system or work a farm properly for food so it's pretty fair that the people who invest in and control these things might want to keep tabs on people. Of course, when it gets too extreme we're certainly justified in revolting. |

You're implying everyone in the world follows the law. Even though it's a crime at the federal level in America, millions of people smoke marijuana. Millions of kids drink underaged. Using turn signals and obeying speed limits are also laws here, but many people including our own police and government officials do not follow them because they do not agree with the limits imposed. Rules written on paper do nothing to stop those who don't want to follow them. Are there consequences to breaking the law? Yes, but many people choose not to follow laws they don't agree with. Would you call people who smoke marijuana or disregard traffic laws extremists? There are many arbitrary laws regarding guns I do not agree with or like, but I still follow them. Unlike those who abuse substances, being a law abiding gun owner and citizen I'm still labeled an extremist by most people and the government itself for simply liking guns and obeying all existing laws. To say that only extremists disregard laws meant to keep people safe is false. |

And I remember when being in middle school and high school, people can bully you and you can use disorderly conduct fighting against them to try to stop them and it would be between you and the other people sometimes. Nowadays, you can't even get away with that anymore. Even when things do not concern anyone else and it's none of other people's business, they'll find a way to stick their nose in to report you guys. As long as no one is killed or rap3d, it doesn't matter. |

@Triarii & SSJSC I think both you guys have misunderstood my post. Dat was a general statement that I myself have been swinging back & forth for some time Lets not bring bully, speeding, drugs etc into this. Its too dark for me to discuss. Besides, I have no intention of being so-called contrarian here. My point is that Law is for everybody. Doesnt mean jack if ur President of US. Okay, maybe status plays significant role when it comes to law/government/police, but my general view is that law applies equally, regardless of gender, race, color, language You can talk abt bully & racing & whatnot. But I consider those among minorities. If you take a look at bigger picture, the strict law enforcement actually paved way for citizens to lead civilized lifestyle |

How does the law prevent us from doing what we want socially, personally, professionally, and sexually? I'm confused. |

Keeping terrorists and murderers off the street is a good thing, but too much power over very very minor crimes is a waste of time, in my opinion. Like if you smack someone's hand really hard, you can even get arrested for that too. If you throw a bottle of beer on the street in front of someone, you could get arrested for that too. There are people who have guns and knives out there. They need to worry about them instead. I believe in self defense against bullies, but at the same time, remembering to hold back and not badly hurt anybody or end up killing them. |

There's definitely some stupidity in the law, like how you can save someone with CPR and then they can sue you because you broke their rib doing it(which can happen easily) That kind of s*** is just nonsense, there are certainly bigger fish to fry but overall we have it pretty good. There are still places in the world where you can go to jail for things like masturbating or possibly being homosexual, we have it pretty good. |

Some places actually have Good Samaritan laws that protect those who save someone else life you're protected from lawsuits, assuming you didn't do some hokey s*** like intubate them or something when they just sprained their ankle. |

Just because they CAN sue you doesn't mean that they'll win their law suit. A murder could argue that they were told by Miss Piggy to kill people, it still wouldn't fly very far. |

But they CAN win their law suit which is retarded. Murder is completely different. If someone definitely saves your life it shouldn't be possible to take any form of legal action against them unless they actually did something illegal and on purpose. Why do courts even entertain the idea of things like that? "If he didn't give me CPR I'd have been brain dead at best but...I didn't give him consent to touch me!" "Get out" Is how it should go. |
